Countertops are long, brittle, and material-specific. Natural stone, engineered quartz, solid surface, laminate, butcher block, and concrete tops cannot share one weight or carrying assumption. Sinks, faucets, disposals, cooktops, and plumbing must be disconnected and separated before the top is treated as ordinary debris.

Countertops and fixtures combine concentrated weight, fracture risk, long carries, cutouts, live utilities, glass, plumbing, and refrigerant-bearing exceptions.

Cast slabs, mortar, reinforcement, plywood base, cement board, and tile form a dense composite rather than a simple finish.

Sinks, toilets, tubs, disposals, cooktops, coolers, and HVAC or refrigeration components each require their own detachment and disposition check.

A top may be removable but unable to turn through doors, stairs, or elevators intact. Define sectioning and protection before detachment.

Contain porcelain, glass, and stone shards

Broken sinks, tops, mirrors, and tile create sharp dense fragments that need rigid containment and visible labeling.

Protect the useful stream before it becomes mixed debris.

Mineral tops

Stone and concrete may have an aggregate or reuse path only when free of cabinets, adhesive, wood substrate, metal, and plumbing.

Metal fixtures

Stainless sinks, faucets, and cast or metal components can be separated after plumbing, sealants, nonmetal parts, and contamination are addressed.

Refrigerant equipment

Refrigerators, coolers, and air-conditioning components require a compliant recovery and documentation path; they are not ordinary mixed debris.

05 / MEASURE IT

Use the assembly’s native unit.

Record each section's length, depth, thickness, material, cutouts, and floor. List backsplashes, sinks, appliances, and fixtures separately.
